The Story Behind the Pose.

Often times I find it challenging to draw a nude model without a story behind the pose. That was what happened in my life drawing class tonight. I practically hit the brick wall and did not like any of my drawings until Stuart who is my life drawing instructor approached and told me to think of a story behind the pose and put them in a situation. Once I did that, everything was so much more easier and fun to draw! I was more relaxed and focused and ideas kept pouring in! I remember reading about the importance of the story behind the pose from Walt Stanchfield's "Drawn To Life" but I guess I was blinded by the importance of the gesture itself and forgot that there's always a story that support the pose.

Anyway, here are some of my favorites from tonight's class!
(3-5 minute poses) done with Sharpie on newsprints.

(Sirkel)

I used my upcoming film idea for last week's layout assignment. I'll be posting up more concept art and possibly some storyboards too.

Rabbit Hallway

Made a drawing that I really like in my life drawing class today. We had to come up with a cinematic composition and Alice was the theme of the day. The model posed for us and a image of a bunny was projected onto the screen. I wanted the bunny to play a bigger role in my version of Alice, so here it is! Alice walking through the Rabbit Hallway.
